Aeon Mall Vietnam to Build $151.6M Shopping Center in Bac Ninh by 2027
Aeon, a major Japanese retailer, has been expanding its presence in Vietnam since 2014. It currently operates 8 shopping malls, 15 general merchandise stores, and 29 specialty shops. The company aims to triple this number by 2030.
Aeon Mall Vietnam CEO Nakagawa Tetsuyuki has set a goal to finalize product and tenant strategies by the end of 2025. Once these strategies are in place, the company will seek in-principle approval for a new project.
The project, a VND4 trillion ($151.6 million) shopping mall in Bac Ninh province, is set to begin construction on December 19. Aeon Mall Vietnam and Newland Investment JSC are collaborating on this venture. The mall will span over 7.6 hectares and has already completed land procedures and environmental impact assessments.
Bac Ninh, home to global tech giants like Samsung and Foxconn, is an attractive location for the project. The province's chairman, Vuong Quoc Tuan, wants the mall to be inaugurated on July 1, 2027. Meanwhile, Aeon Vietnam CEO Tezuka Daisuke plans to triple the number of shopping centers and stores in Vietnam by 2030.
Aeon's investment in Vietnam continues to grow with a new shopping mall project in Bac Ninh province. The project, worth VND4 trillion, is set to begin construction soon and is expected to further boost Aeon's presence in the country. Both Aeon and local officials are optimistic about the project's potential.
