Announced Winners of the 2019 Ocean Art Competition

Ocean Art Underwater Photo Competition 2019 Recognises Exceptional Underwater Photography

The 2019 Ocean Art Underwater Photo Competition was one of the most prestigious nature photo contests in the world, attracting entries from photographers in 78 countries. Although the exact locations of the winning photography are not specified in the results, some notable dive sites stand out.

Maldives locations such as Bandos Maldives and OBLU NATURE Helengeli by SENTIDO are frequently recognised for their world-class scuba diving and underwater imagery. The competition was judged by Tony Wu, Martin Edge, Marty Snyderman, and Scott Gietler, and included categories for Wide Angle, Macro, Marine Life Behavior, Portrait, Coldwater, Nudibranch, Supermacro, Reefscape, Blackwater, Conservation, Underwater Art, Novice Wide Angle, Novice Macro, Compact Wide Angle, Compact Macro, Compact Behavior, and List of Winners.

Some notable winners include Eduardo Acevedo Fernandez, who won 1st Place in the Reefscapes category, and Francisco Sedano, who took 1st Place in the Underwater Art category. Fabien Michenet won 1st Place in the Blackwater category, while Talia Greis secured 1st Place in the Compact Wide Angle category.

Jules Casey won the "Rising Star Photographer" award, and Shane Gross took 1st Place in the Conservation category. Other honourable mentions include Kimber Greenwood, Aîa Mar, and Chun Ho Tam in the Underwater Art category, and Fabien Michenet, Steven Kovacs, and Suzan Meldonian in the Blackwater category.
