BUND Apple Festival Returns Oct 4: Cakes, Workshops, Regional Specialties & More

The BUND apple café is set to host its annual festival on October 4th, from 13:00 to 17:00, at the Bürgerhaus Untermaßfeld in Teichstraße 11. This year's event promises a variety of activities, including self-baked cakes, fair-trade coffee, and creative workshops for children. Visitors can also expect regional specialties, repair services, and apple variety consultations.

The festival will offer a range of attractions both indoors and outdoors. The BUND apple café will serve self-baked cakes and fair-trade coffee. Children can engage in creative activities like painting, felting, and hammering, and even build their own nest boxes or print with leaves.

Two herb women will showcase their jams, cosmetics, and regional specialties, including honey, decorative items made of wood, felt, and willow. The repair café Meiningen will be on hand to help fix small household and electrical appliances, with prior contact via email ([email protected]) welcomed.

The beekeeping association Meiningen will provide practical tips on honeybee keeping and demonstrate how to set up and sharpen a traditional scythe. Pomologist Frank Schelhorn from Hildburghausen will determine the varieties of the apples brought along, requesting three typical fruits per variety.

New this year is the landscape maintenance association from Kaltensundheim, offering an exhibition, variety consultation, and crafting offers around the Rhön sheep. Freshly pressed apple juice will be available for tasting, and apples from local orchards in various sorts can be purchased.

The BUND apple festival is easily accessible by train and bike, with free entrance. Children from the Tanzhaus Benshausen will play music on the handpan and invite visitors to listen and join in. The festival promises a delightful blend of local produce, craftsmanship, and community engagement, making it a must-visit event for all ages.
