Businessman Nick Woltemade Secures 85 Million Euros Through Trading Deal

In a move that signals a significant shift in the English Premier League, German striker Nick Woltemade is set to join Newcastle United, following a transfer worth a reported €85 million, making it the most expensive sale in VfB Stuttgart's history.

The 23-year-old forward, who has caught the eye with his impressive performances in the Bundesliga, is currently undergoing medical tests at Newcastle United, with the deal expected to be finalised in the coming days.

Woltemade, who was born in Bremen, began his professional career with Werder Bremen before moving to Stuttgart in 2024. His time at the Neckarstadion has been fruitful, scoring 12 goals in 29 appearances for the Swabian club.

Prior to his move to Stuttgart, Woltemade spent some time on loan at SV Elversberg, where he honed his skills and established himself as a promising talent.

Despite his young age, Woltemade has already made his debut for the German national team in June 2025, and he is yet to score his first international goal.

Newcastle United, who currently rank 15th in the English top-flight, will be hoping that Woltemade can help propel them up the table and challenge for a place in Europe. The club, which is majority-owned by the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund Public Investment Fund, has shown a willingness to invest in top-tier talent in recent years.

The reported transfer fee for Woltemade is €85 million, without any bonuses, but it is understood that there are potential bonuses that could still increase the buyout sum.

Woltemade's transfer to Newcastle United marks a major milestone in his professional football career, and it comes after interest from other top clubs, including FC Bayern Munich. However, it appears that the Magpies were able to outbid their competition to secure the services of the highly-rated striker.

The sale of Woltemade to Newcastle United eclipses the previous record sale from Stuttgart, which was the €35 million transfer of Benjamin Pavard to Bayern Munich in the 2019/20 season. The second most expensive sale from the club was Mario Gomez, who was sold for €30 million in the 2009/10 season.

With Woltemade's arrival at St. James' Park imminent, fans of Newcastle United can look forward to seeing one of the most promising young strikers in European football in action. The German forward is set to add a new dimension to the Magpies' attack and could be the key to unlocking their potential for success in the Premier League.
