City-wide celebration for beloved panda twins turning one in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is set to host a grand citywide celebration on 15 August 2025 as it marks the first birthday of its beloved giant panda twins, Jia Jia and De De. The festivities promise a blend of cultural, artistic, and recreational experiences, appealing to tourists, families, and collectors alike[1][2][3].

The city will be adorned with panda-themed decorations and displays, transforming into a festive "giant birthday party" across tourist spots[1][3]. One of the highlights of the celebration is the exclusive LABUBU x Panda Twins collectibles. A special birthday-edition LABUBU vinyl toy, designed by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung, will be given away as part of a lucky draw throughout August[1][2][3].

Approximately 300 collectible gift sets will be given away via the lucky draw to visitors at Ocean Park during August, with extra sets released onsite from 15 to 17 August. Each set includes a 18-centimetre tall LABUBU, inspired by bamboo, wearing a birthday hat and holding the panda twins[1][2][3].

Ocean Park will also be hosting themed decorations, photo opportunities, stamp rallies, and free giveaways. They invite Ocean Park Annual Members, Panda Twins Fan Club members, and toddlers with the same birthday as the pandas to a celebration party on 15 August. The panda parents, Ying Ying and Le Le, will also celebrate their birthdays that month, adding to the festivities[4].

The celebration is not just about fun and games. Ocean Park partners with brands like AEON Card and LINE FRIENDS for the "LINE FRIENDS x Panda Friends Summer Splash" event, promoting wildlife appreciation and nature conservation alongside birthday celebrations[4].

To amplify the celebrations, a roster of famous twin influencers globally will send birthday wishes to the twins, enhancing international engagement[1].

The Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau (CSTB) and the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) are organizing promotions to celebrate the occasion. The HKTB has enlisted global influencers and LABUBU, a popular character, to shower the pandas with birthday wishes[1].

In addition to the lucky draw, HKTB will install new panda-themed decorations at the Kowloon Visitor Centre at the Star Ferry Pier in Tsim Sha Tsui. Each street sign features customized designs that blend photos of the twin pandas with symbols of local cuisine, cultural elements, and landmarks[5].

The CSTB and HKTB are transforming 32 tourism hotspots in Hong Kong with panda-themed street signs, including sites like Fire Dragon Path in Causeway Bay, where the sign will feature the twins joining the historic Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance[6].

Commuters can watch a 30-minute interactive live broadcast of the celebrations at designated MTR stations. Jazzie Sillona, a popular content creator based in Hong Kong, has produced a Hong Kong Travel Vlog featuring LABUBU and the panda twins[7].

On the twins' birthday, HKTB, Ocean Park, and MTR Corporation will jointly present livestreams of the giant pandas' birthday party[8].

This celebration is set to be a significant event in Hong Kong's 2025 summer calendar, offering a unique blend of cultural, artistic, and recreational experiences for all[2][3][4].
