Civil Engineer John Hendrix Named Alaska's Outstanding Alaskan of the Year
Civil engineer John Hendrix, a Homer resident with over four decades of experience, has been named the William A. Egan Outstanding Alaskan of the Year by the Alaska Chamber Executive Committee. Hendrix will be honoured alongside other award winners, including the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and STG Inc., at the Summit on October 9 at Alyeska Resort.
Hendrix's entrepreneurial spirit and significant contributions to Alaska's energy sector have earned him this prestigious recognition. With leadership roles at major companies such as Apache Alaska, BP, and Schlumberger, as well as serving as an oil and gas advisor to the governor's office, Hendrix has left an indelible mark on the state's energy landscape.
Among his notable achievements, Hendrix founded HEX, which acquired Furie Operating Alaska. This acquisition has led to the production of natural gas from offshore platforms in Cook Inlet, further boosting Alaska's energy sector.
The Alaska Chamber's Premier Business Awards in 2025 also recognised the Kenai Chamber of Commerce, the Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal, and STG Inc. for their outstanding contributions. Hendrix's award is a testament to his dedication and impact on Alaska's energy industry, and his recognition will be celebrated at the upcoming summit.
