Exploring the Unique Labyrinth in Croatia: A Must-See Destination

Nestled in the picturesque rural area of Ivanić-Grad, in the Zagreb County, lies an unusual and engaging attraction - the Posavina Corn Maze. This seasonal attraction, established in 2022, is a project of the Ivanić-Grad Tourist Board and is open from July to November.

The Posavina Corn Maze spans over a vast two hectares of land, offering visitors a free and immersive experience. Its location next to the old school building, where the Ivanić-Grad Museum now stands, adds a touch of history to the adventure.

Each year, the maze's design changes to keep the attraction fresh and exciting. The pattern is intricately planned, inspired by the intricate patterns of local folk costumes. This year, the maze is changing its pattern to 'Hrvatica'. Visitors can expect to navigate through a maze that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The maze is surrounded by lush, green fields that transform into golden expanses as the seasons change. It is situated near the Sava River, allowing for a ferry ride as part of the experience. The river offers a serene backdrop, making the Posavina Corn Maze an ideal option for a family trip.

The game within the maze changes annually and can be played by scanning a QR code. Last year, over 3,000 visitors played the game, making their way through the cornfield labyrinth. This year, visitors can participate in a game related to the history and heritage of rural Posavina.

In addition to the maze, visitors can enjoy local games and puzzles inspired by local folk costumes. The Posavina Corn Maze is more than just a maze; it's an experience that celebrates the rich culture and natural beauty of the region.

The maze is part of a crop rotation system, with the design, marking out, and breaking in the paths done in May and June. The maze's location changes every year in agreement with local farmers, ensuring minimal disruption to the agricultural activities of the region.

As the summer tourist season in Croatia approaches, the Posavina Corn Maze is set to become a popular destination. In September, Posavina Days, a local event showcasing OPGs (family farms) and their products, begins. This event offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the local culture and taste the region's delicious produce.

Whether you're a local or a tourist, the Posavina Corn Maze is a unique and sustainable attraction that promises a memorable experience. So, mark your calendars and get ready to navigate the intricate patterns of this captivating corn maze this summer!

To complement the enchanting rural experience, consider also exploring the 'lifestyle' of the region by visiting local OPGs during Posavina Days in September. Take the chance to immerse yourself in the 'home-and-garden' atmosphere, as you taste the cultivated 'travel'-worthy delicacies produced by the family farms.
