Georgia-Tourism boom in 2024 prompts doubling of Israel flight connections

Heads up, folks! 📣 Georgia and Israel's Booming Travel Ties 🇬🇪🇮🇱

Deputy Minister of Economy, Mariam Kvrivishvili, has announced a strengthening of cooperation between Georgia and Israel in tourism and civil aviation, following a meet-up with Israeli Ambassador Hadas Ester Meitzad in Tbilisi.

Joining forces with the Civil Aviation Agency Chair, Givi Davitashvili, Georgian Airports Association Director, Levan Moseshvili, and Supervisory Board Chair, Tamar Ioseliani, the discussion centered on bolstering flight connections and attracting more tourists.

Kvrivishvili highlighted Israel's swift ascension as a significant tourism partner, revealing that four airlines are currently providing regular flights between both countries. "In 2024, the number of flights to Israel will skyrocket compared to 2019, reaching 70 each week," she stated.

Tourist arrivals from Israel saw an impressive surge of 72.9% in the first quarter of 2024, positioning the nation as the fourth largest inbound tourism market for Georgia.

Kvrivishvili also emphasized the potential of Kutaisi International Airport, stressing, "Kutaisi Airport possesses tremendous potential. We're eager for more airlines to operate flights to various destinations more frequently, which will boost tourism in Kutaisi and the Imereti region."

Insight: Kutaisi Airport currently contributes to travelers' journeys to Israel via 1-stop flights to Tel Aviv. However, it's not directly connected yet. The increasing demand for travel between the two nations could possibly lead to expanded services or brand-new routes in the future.

🔵🔵🔵 Bear in mind: Skip the transfers and fly straight to Israel with direct routes from Tbilisi. But for now, Kutaisi's role in direct flights is somewhat limited, with a focus on providing flights with a stopover.

🔵🔵🔵 Scoop: Looking ahead to 2024, there's an exciting upsurge in tourism between Georgia and Israel, with plans to nearly double flight connections. Keep your eyes peeled for potential improvements or new routes from Kutaisi!
