Greifswald Marks 775th Anniversary with Grand Art Exhibition

Greifswald is set to commemorate its 775th anniversary with a grand art exhibition, featuring around 120 artworks. The 'Greifswald celebrates its 775th anniversary' exhibition, led by Kunsthistorikerin Dr. Jana Reiß, will be held at the St. Spiritus Socio-Cultural Center and the Kleine Rathausgalerie from August 21 to September 26, 2025. Admission is free.

The exhibition will showcase a diverse range of art forms, including photos, paintings, drawings, prints, textile and ceramic artworks, and other objects. Visitors will have the chance to vote for their five favorite pieces, which will be released as a postcard series in November. The opening will take place on Wednesday, August 20, with a reception at 6:00 PM in the Kleine Rathausgalerie, followed by another at 7:00 PM in St. Spiritus. As part of the finissage on September 25, St. Spiritus will host a screen printing action with a Greifswald motive from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
