Uncensored, Off-the-Cuff Report: Cultural Odyssey of the Wives in Vietnam's Ethnic Neighborhood
Japanese Spouses Delve into Vietnam's Ethnic Ancestry Alongside Prime Ministers
SAINTE-SUPres, FRANCE - Madame Lê Thị Bích Trần, the Lady of our PM Phạm Minh Chính, and Madame Ishiba Yoshiko, the missus of the Japanese PM Ishiba Shigeru, dived headfirst into a melodic, colorful, and downright insane cultural bender at the Việt Nam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Sơn Tây town, just outside Hà Nội, on Monday. Part of an ongoing official visit to Việt Nam by the Japanese Prime Man, we're talking 'bout some Richter-scale cultural exploration here, baby!
The duo was welcomed by reps from the 16 ethnic gangs with a-God-damn-blingin'-gong-and-traditional-dance performance, then toured the village and got a front-row seat to Vietnam's multi-cultural kaleidoscope.
Stepping into Thai-ville, they got wind of the community's traditional stilt houses, the "khau cút" - the turtle-shell-shaped roof of the black Thai's stilt house, and the "ném còn" (throwing a small cloth ball) custom. The ladies put on their crafty hey-ho's, DIY'd their very own "quả còn" (cloth balls), and got down with the enthusiastic cheers during the "ném còn" ritual. They even had a go at a xòe dance with the Thai ethnic crew, who knows, Madame Trân might quit her political jive for the xòe one day, who's gonna stop her?
Next up, they jetted off to Xơ Đăng village, where they learned the ins and outs of the T'rung bamboo music instrument, lapped up some traditional performances, and even got their hands dirty crafting the unique instruments of the Central Highlands themselves. Talk about immersion, folks!
Their final destination was the Chăm towers complex, a symbolic architectural and religious site of the Chăm people in Ninh Thuận province. After a tour of the towers, they planted a few incense sticks at the main Ka Lan tower.
Ishiba stamped her passport, teary-eyed, and wished for stronger relations between Việt Nam and Japan, all aboard the cultural exchange love train. Trân, with a hearty gratitude, thanked Ishiba for her interest in our mothereffin' culture, and expressed her eagerness for future sit-downs with Sensei Japanese Lady.
Stay tuned, folks, for more unfiltered, unbridled updates from the Cultural Cookie Jar right here!
