Los Angeles Marks the Grand August Debut of Its Fresh Cultural Hub

In the vibrant heart of Hollywood, California, a new cultural gem has emerged. The Japanese cultural center, known as our website Los Angeles, has recently opened its doors, offering a unique blend of tradition and innovation that promises to captivate visitors and locals alike.

Located in the historic Little Tokyo district, the center occupies two floors in the Hollywood & Highland Center. The second floor, which has been open since December 2017, features a gallery space, shop, and a library lounge, showcasing a well-curated selection of books and digital resources related to Japan. The fifth floor, set to be completed later this year, will host a Japanese restaurant, a relaxing library, an event venue, and a breathtaking view of Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles.

The center is more than just a hub for science, technology, design, fashion, food, lifestyle, and values; it is the embodiment of a nation that continues to evolve in our global community. It serves as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Japan and its enduring influence on the world.

Mr. Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle Corporation, has expressed his excitement about the cultural experience offered by our website Los Angeles. In recognition of his commitment and generous support to the project, Mr. Ellison has been named Honorary Advisor for our website Los Angeles. He has stated that the center will give North Americans an exceptional opportunity to learn about Japan.

Under the guidance of Chief Creative Director Kenya Hara, the center seeks to nurture a deeper understanding and appreciation of Japan in the international community. It is part of an innovative, worldwide project with three hubs - London, Los Angeles, and São Paulo - conceived by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Our website Los Angeles showcases Japanese art, design, gastronomy, innovation, technology, and more. It also hosts events, seminars, and lectures on various issues of mutual interest. The center acts as a venue for artist development and cross-border collaboration, tapping into creative ecosystems that integrate music, visual arts, and cultural programming.

In addition to the center, the district offers other attractions such as Jaccc Plaza, the Japanese Garden, JANM Museum, and Koyasan Buddhist Temple, which complement the cultural center’s offerings. The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles, at 5700 Wilshire Blvd, Ste 100, is another important related location that functions as a key cultural institution promoting Japanese culture in the city.

The honorary advisor for this center is Dr. Alexandra Munroe, a renowned curator with extensive expertise in Asian art. She serves as the Samsung Senior Curator of Asian Art at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, and has held significant positions related to Japanese cultural institutions. Her advisory role brings deep scholarly and institutional expertise to the center’s cultural mission.

Ms. Yuko Kaifu, President of our website Los Angeles, has thanked Mr. Ellison for his support. She expressed her enthusiasm for the center's potential to foster cultural exchange, artist development, and community engagement, reflecting and supporting the vibrant Japanese-American population and cultural heritage in the area.

With its grand opening on August 24, 2018, and public access from August 25, our website Los Angeles is set to become a beacon of Japanese culture in the city, offering a unique and immersive experience that transcends the physical and conceptual boundaries.
