Nissan & Opus Unveil ROAM: The Eco-Friendly Electric Car Battery-Powered Camper
Nissan and Opus have collaborated to create the ROAM, an innovative camping trailer concept that repurposes old electric car batteries. This eco-friendly solution offers a quick and convenient power source for camping enthusiasts.
The ROAM's power comes from a lithium-ion battery pack, originally used in electric cars, storing up to 700Wh of electricity. This pack can be removed and recharged using a 230v domestic socket or a 400W solar panel, taking around two to four hours. The solar panel can extend the battery life up to seven days, making it perfect for off-grid camping.
The trailer can be fully charged from a 230-volt power outlet in just one hour. It powers both 230-volt and 12-volt circuits in the trailer, supporting a wide range of devices. These include smartphones, lights, a projector with a pull-up screen, a 230v portable microwave, a small fridge, and a two-burner gas stove. Additionally, the ROAM's power can inflate the pop-up camper in just 90 seconds.
The Nissan ROAM, a result of Nissan's partnership with Opus, offers a sustainable and practical solution for campers. By repurposing old electric car batteries, it provides ample power for various devices and appliances, enhancing the camping experience while reducing waste.
