Qatar Tourism Awards 2024 Recognize Excellence in Tourism Sector

The Qatar Tourism Awards 2024, now in its third year, are set to honour individuals and entities contributing to the growth and excellence of Qatar's tourism industry. Organized in collaboration with the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), these awards consist of seven main categories and 37 subcategories, designed to reflect the diversity of Qatar's growing tourism sector.

The main categories include Service Excellence, Culinary Experiences, Iconic Attractions, Major Events, Digital Footprint, Smart and Sustainable Tourism, and Community Leaders. These awards aim to strengthen the community of leaders in the tourism sector and align with the key priorities of UN Tourism to promote tourism as a driver of economic growth and comprehensive development.

The winners of the Qatar Tourism Awards are chosen by a panel of judges, featuring leading experts in the field. UN Tourism contributes to the selection process by including one of its officials as an international expert. Notable speakers at the awards ceremony have included UN Tourism Regional Director for the Middle East, Basmah Al Mayman, and UN Tourism Executive Director, Natalia Bayona, who emphasized the importance of recognizing and investing in the best talent and ideas to transform the sector.

As of the latest available information, the awards ceremony to announce the winners is scheduled for late November 2024. However, detailed winners’ lists and specific recipient names for each category have not been publicly released yet. The Qatar Tourism Awards invite all tourism stakeholders to play a part in shaping the future of tourism in Qatar.

The Qatar tourism sector has seen significant growth over the past few years, with international arrivals increasing by 147% between 2019 and 2024. This growth has made Qatar a hub for tourism innovation and investments. H.E. Saad Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, emphasized the vital role of UN Tourism in the success of the Awards and reiterated Qatar Tourism's strong commitment to delivering exceptional service and positioning Qatar as a fast-growing tourism destination.

For those interested in applying for future editions of the Qatar Tourism Awards, H.E. Saad Al Kharji encourages all tourism stakeholders to do so. The Awards received approximately 1,200 applications from businesses and individuals in the sector for its second edition. The Qatar Tourism Awards 2024 are a testament to the vibrant and dynamic tourism landscape in Qatar and a celebration of the individuals and entities driving its growth and success.
