Redesigned Gulfstream London Centre Showcases Varying Customization Options for Your Private Jet

In the world of high-end luxury, if you've got your sights set on a Gulfstream business jet (starting at approximately $25m for a G280), then you're probably no stranger to the art of bespoke design, whether it's from yachts, architecture, fashion, automobiles or exclusive design studios. Sparking your creativity is the private, tranquil office or atelier, where you can sip on something bubbly while making thoughtful design decisions leisurely.

Gulfstream's refreshed London Sales and Design Centre caters to private aviation enthusiasts seeking a comprehensive, up-close-and-personal examination of their potential investment. Situated right in Mayfair – a haven for family offices, wealth managers, and premium brands – this center welcomes customers to intimately scrutinize every minute detail of their purchase, as well as catching a glimpse of their order's progress.

For over a decade, Gulfstream has called this space home, alongside similar locations in Beverly Hills and New York. The newly revamped interior, nestled in an unmarked office block, features a fully experiential atmosphere, replete with full-sized interior mock-ups of the G700 and G400 aircraft to showcase a variety of finishes, fixtures, and seating options.

The target demographic for this remarkable, rarefied experience are the select few passengers who spend over 400 hours annually soaring through the skies for business or pleasure. When such time is money, the stakes are high, and only the finest materials will suffice, with soft leather and high thread count linens essential components.

My tour of the Gulfstream space commenced in the Design Showroom, reminiscent of a boardroom brimming with mood boards, swatches, and design illustrations that lay the groundwork for the custom interior you'd eventually call yours. Unlike the automotive industry where color-burst aesthetics have recently gained popularity, jet interiors still favor subtle, conservative color palettes and earth tones. After all, these aircrafts spend a considerable amount of time being chartered to other customers, making vibrant styles less desirable.

However, fervent adopters of more unique color schemes can be found, with Gulfstream catering to timeless elegance and exquisite taste, as revealed by the two mocked-up interiors that greet customers as they exit the elevator. Mike Bryden, Gulfstream's senior principal designer, whose background lies in the UHNWI clientele at Rolls-Royce, ensures that design standards remain rigorous.

The revamped interiors of modern private jets reflect a blend of functionality, safety, and stylish flair, with thoughtfully designed layouts, harmonized lighting, and integrated IT and media devices. While individual furniture choices may be limited by regulations or practicality, you'll still find plenty of ways to put your personal touch on every detail, from the precise placement of monograms and crests to the configuration of seating, all thanks to Gulfstream's innovative configurator app.

The configurator app and accompanying presentation screen invite customers to delve deep into the specification process, exploring various design options at their convenience. In as little as three to twelve months, you can finalize your aircraft's design, followed by a year-long build period to bring your vision to life.

Inside the 500 square meters of furnishings, fixtures, and accessories at Gulfstream, customers are treated to a luxurious, highly personalized experience. Although pursuing uncertified materials or exclusive designs can result in certification delays, the end result is well worth the wait as you ascend into the skies surrounded by the best workmanship and design the industry has to offer.

Gulfstream's legacy began with the introduction of the Gulfstream I in 1958, marking the dawn of personal business travel. Over the ensuing decades, the company has manufactured over 3,300 aircraft boasting a modern portfolio that spans "super-midsize" G280s to continent-crossing G800s.

Put simply, private jet ownership is a significant investment, both in terms of financial cost and time spent maintaining the aircraft. Yet, for busy professionals and corporations, the ultimate goal is to save time by streamlining their travels, and Gulfstream's streamlined design process and exquisite craftsmanship epitomize that mission. By participating in the detailed design journey, customers can personalize their flying experience and elevate their time spent aloft.
