Russia's New Entry Rules for Kazakhstan Citizens: Submitting ruID Application is Optional
Heads Up, Kazakhstan: Changes Afoot for Visiting Russia as of June 30
Mark your calendars, Kazakh pals! From June 30, 2025, to June 30, 2026, Russia's border crossings will undergo an experiment, unveiling new rules for foreigners entering the country. Here's the scoop on what this means for you.
First off, the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan's visa-free travel regime isn't going anywhere. The embassy has clarified that the new rules are voluntary during this trial period. But why risk the hassle, right?
Starting June 30, you'll want to use the ruID app to enjoy some sweet perks in Russia. By registering your travel plans ahead of time, you can breeze through border control and reap benefits like:
- Accessing all online government services with minimal fuss
- Obtaining a swanky new Russian SIM card
- Settling fines, tax debts, and state duties hassle-free
Now, the new registration procedure works like this: you need to submit an entry declaration using the ruID app no later than 72 hours and no earlier than 90 days before your trip. In a bind? Worry not, emergency registration is possible up to 4 hours before your trip, as long as you've got the proper documentation (e.g., illness or family emergencies).
To submit your declaration, simply download and install the ruID app, available from app stores by June 24. If you already have an account on Russian Goservices, you can log in to the ruID app using your existing login and password.
It's also important to note that Russia's experiment includes collecting biometric data, such as facial images and fingerprints, from foreign nationals upon entry and exit. This initiative started in December 2024, and Kazakhs arriving at Moscow's international airports (Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky) and the Mahtsakhovo automobile checkpoint in the Orenburg region have already experienced it.
So, buckle up, Kazakh comrades! From June 30, you'll want to roll with these updates to ensure smooth sailing at Russia's borders. Don't forget to check out the detailed instruction video below for extra guidance. As they say in Russia, да здравствует дружба и сотрудничество! (Here's to friendship and cooperation!)
Additional Info:- During this trial period, the ruID app will make it easier for Kazakh citizens to comply with Russia's new migration rules, manage documents, and register inside the country.- By using the ruID app, Kazakh travelers can benefit from streamlined security, increased transparency, and a more straightforward verification of their migration status, helping reduce risks related to irregular status or misunderstandings with employers, schools, and other institutions.
While the visa-free travel between the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan remains unchanged, you might find it beneficial to adapt to the new regulations starting June 30, 2025. Utilizing the ruID app for travel planning will help ensure a smoother border crossing experience, granting access to online services, a Russian SIM card, and hassle-free payment of fines, taxes, and duties.
