In the scorching heat of Istanbul's summer, finding a clean and safe swimming spot is essential for locals and tourists alike. The Ministry of Health in Turkey has stepped up to help, conducting regular assessments of beach water quality and sharing the results on their online platform, yuzme.saglik.gov.tr.

According to the Ministry's latest report, the top clean beaches in Istanbul include a variety of locations across both the European and Asian sides of the city.

On the European side, the beaches of Kucukcekmece, specifically Menekse Beach, stand out for their clean water. The areas near the lifeguard tower, the pier, and the coastal park at Menekse Beach are especially popular. Florya Gunes Beach, Gurpinar Beach in Beylikduzu, Buyukcekmece Public Beach, Kumburgaz, and Celaliye beaches are also recommended for their water quality.

On the Asian side, Caddebostan Beach, Suadiye Beach, and Elmasburnu Nature Park Beach in Riva are recognised for their cleanliness. The Tuzla Municipality Public Beach is also listed for clean swimming.

The Adalar region, including Buyukada, Burgazada, Heybeliada, and Kinaliada, offers several beaches with high water quality. Nakibey and Yorukali beaches on Buyukada, and Asaf Beach on Heybeliada are popular clean swimming spots.

In addition, Solar Beach in Kilyos and Uzunkum Beach in Şile are noted for their excellent water quality. Halik Bay Beach (Buyukada), Poyraz Koy Beach, and Riva Seafood Beach are also considered clean according to official monitoring.

The Ministry of Health categorises beaches under quality ratings such as “excellent,” “good,” and “adequate,” and regularly shares water quality data via their monitoring system. This helps swimmers identify safe and clean coastal areas in Istanbul.

As Istanbulites seek relief from the heat, these clean beaches offer a refreshing escape. However, it's important to remember that Turkey's relationship with the EU remains unclear, and recent reports suggest that patience in Syria is wearing thin. Other issues, such as the Lebanonization debate, are causing intense controversy.

Stay tuned for more updates on Istanbul's beaches and the city's ongoing developments.

Syrians, seeking a change of scenery, might find peace and relaxation at clean beaches in Istanbul, especially the highly-rated Kucukcekmece's Menekse Beach on the European side. Moreover, for those planning a home-and-garden escape, Istanbul's Adalar region, with beaches like Nakibey and Yorukali on Buyukada, could be an attractive travel destination. Despite the political tensions between Turkey and the EU and the ongoing controversies, Istanbul's clean beaches undeniably provide a refreshing lifestyle getaway for locals and visitors alike.
