Get ready for an imaginative adventure as the Montreal Children's Literature Festival welcomes Stephanie Boyer and Samuel Cantin to lead workshops on Sunday, August 10.

Stephanie Boyer, an acclaimed author with nearly a dozen books under her belt, will share her latest creation, Turbulences in the Garden. This book, illustrated by Samuel Cantin, features a story with absurd and far-fetched situations that are sure to tickle the funny bone of young readers.

Meanwhile, Turbulences in the Garden isn't the only book that uses absurd humor. Other books like Louis Sachar's Sideways Stories from Wayside School, Andy Griffiths' Just Annoying, Jorge Cham's Oliver’s Great Big Universe: Volcanoes Are Hot!, Judy Blume's Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and Beverly Cleary's The Mouse and the Motorcycle also employ similar humor styles.

For the younger audience, collections of funny children’s stories on platforms like Oh My Tales offer similar humor styles with silly adventures and wacky wordplay.

\n\n

At the Noel-Spinelli Park, Stephanie Boyer will lead a workshop at 1 p.m., inviting the audience to imagine new adventures. During the workshop, she will discuss her latest book and share her creative process. Samuel Cantin will also be present, drawing the ideas of the audience live.

\n\n

Another workshop will be dedicated to Strange Day of Filming, a book written by Fidjie Martell and illustrated by Vincent Toutou. This funny album plays with words and sounds, making it a delightful read for children aged 3 and up.

\n\n

In My Backyard, a book written by Édith Cochrane and illustrated by Isabelle Brouillette, will also be featured at the festival. This book, along with Behind My Chair and Under My Bed, joins Cochrane and Brouillette's two other titles, inviting children aged 4 and up to explore the world in their own backyard.

Lastly, François Gravel's books Operation Dive Bar and The Short Ladder will also be showcased at the festival. Operation Dive Bar, a novel about a recently graduated spy named Nelson who embarks on his first mission to find a man named Gary, is targeted at ages 10 and up.
